UCD Careers in Sport Expo
Reminder that the ‘UCD Careers in Sport Expo’ is on next Thursday 21st April.
It is designed to help prospective 4th, 5th and 6th year secondary school students gain a better understanding of what BSc Sports & Exercise Management and BSc Health & Performance Science students can achieve post graduation.
The open day will include:
• Activities and tours to showcase the UCD Centre for Sports Studies
• Success stories from previous Sports & Exercise Management students and sports personalities
• A presentation from sports lecturers & past pupils in UCD
The event itself will take place on Thursday 21st of April 2016 with registration beginning at 1:00pm.
UCD feel this Expo will greatly help students that are thinking of pursuing a career within this area, and will certainly help answer any queries they might have about what career path to choose. REGISTER HERE

This year's UCD Summer School is taking place from 7 to 10 June 2016.
The UCD Summer School is aimed at students entering their final year of secondary school in September 2016.

Dyslexia study skills workshop
The workshop is particularly aimed at the student with dyslexia who does not qualify for additional teaching support. It would also be relevant to students with other specific learning difficulties such as Asperger's or dyspraxia.
Topics covered in the workshop include:
- Organisation and goal setting.
- Reading and comprehension skills.
- Note-taking.
- Memory and learning strategies.
- Writing skills.
- Targeting specific difficulties experienced by students.
- Resources include websites.
The course is designed for senior cycle students and is on Thursday 31st March 2016 in the Talbot Hotel, Stillorgan at a cost of €50. Use the contact form on this website to request more details and a booking form.

International Women's Day
Today is International Women's Day - a day to celebrate and be grateful for the women and girls in your life and to recognise and be grateful for the opportunity for them to achieve their potential in a social, economic, cultural and political context that not all women of the world have to date. International Men's Day also exists on November 19th - a day dedicated to celebrating men and boys.

UCD Veterinary Medicine Summer School - 5th yrs
This
summer the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine is hosting a Summer School
for students sitting the Leaving Certificate in
2017 and who are considering veterinary medicine as a career.
This is a one-week non-residential course that will cover all major aspects of a career in veterinary medicine. The aim of the programme is to give students a taste of what a career in veterinary medicine entails as well as what it is like to be a vet student in UCD.
2016 Summer School dates (applicants choose their preferred week):
Monday 27th June to Friday 1st July inclusive; 9am to 4pm
Monday 4th July to Friday 8th July inclusive; 9am to 4pm

UCD Science 6th year event 30th March
UCD O’Brien Centre for Science are hosting an afternoon on 30 March 2016 from 2pm to 4pm where 6th Year students can take a look at the Science facilities and to talk to our current students and staff about Science, Computer Science and Actuarial & Financial Studies. Learn from our students about what to expect in your first year in UCD and get a tour at the facilities in the UCD O'Brien Centre for Science.
There will be an opportunity to meet academic staff and current students at the following stands:
Biology and Environmental Science
Biomolecular and Biomedical Science
Chemistry
Computer Science
Geology
Mathematics and Statistics
Science and Mathematics Education
Physics
We will also hold a short session for parents with the Dean of Science Professor Joe Carthy and Dr Orla Donoghue.
