TY Reminder - Engineering Your Future workshop DIT

Engineering Your Future is a week-long, hands-on programme in DIT for Transition Year students who have an interest in science and maths. It is designed to introduce them to the exciting and diverse world of engineering. Hosted by a number of colleges around the country, the Engineering Your Future programme provides a week of exposure to the various engineering disciplines. Attending students gain a meaningful, practical insight into engineering at third level and as a career - interacting with lecturers and graduates, taking part in workshops and meeting engineers during industry visits. Free Science Workshops UCD -TYs, 5th, 6th yrs

UCD Science would like to invite prospectives students in 6th year, 5th year and transition year for one of our workshops taking place during the February Mid-Term Break (Monday 15 February - Friday 19 February).
They will be running a series of workshops in a number of subject areas in the state-of-the-art facilities in the UCD O'Brien Centre for Science (video). These new workshops are in addition to the previously advertised Plant Biology and Microbiology Workshops. The workshops available are as follows:


There is no charge for the event but registration is essential as places are limited in each workshop. Bookings must be made by interested individuals only and students can register for as many workshops as they wish provided places are remaining. Griffith College Free Leaving Cert Revision Sessions


Free LC Revision Workshops for 6thYears:

There are free Leaving Cert revision workshops that Griffith college have for 6th year students.

The Leaving Cert Art History Revision one day course is for leaving certificate students who are preparing to sit their Leaving Cert Art History exam in June 2016.  Art teachers or tutors who are working with their students on preparing may also find this Revision Day useful. The morning session will be delivered by Tara Fahey, co-author of the book: “Leaving Certificate Art History and Appreciation”. The afternoon session will be delivered by Sara Donaldson, Griffith College Lecturer, on the History of Art & Design. Register for free here: www.griffith.ie/free-art-history-revision-course

They are organising these workshops for 6th year students to give them a better understanding of Leaving Certificate music set works, a vital part of the Leaving Certificate music examinations (both Ordinary and Higher levels) .The day will be broken up into morning and afternoon sessions, with an hour long break in between for students to relax. Griffith College lecturer, Dr Pauline Graham of our Higher Diploma in Arts in Music Education, will teach the revision workshop. Register for free here:www.griffith.ie/musicrevision

Maths – Dates and Times as below
In 2015 they had over 1,000 students from across the country register for the free maths revision courses in the three locations. Tomás Mac Eochagáin, Director of Academic programmes at Griffith College, is the presenter of the course. He has over 25 years’ experience of teaching mathematics and securing excellent exam results for students.
All sessions from each centre will be recorded on video and made available on line to all participants until after the examinations in June.

Cork -       Wednesday 30th March  (Ordinary Level Only)
Limerick - Thursday 31st March         (Ordinary Level Only)
Dublin -    Saturday 2nd April             (Ordinary Level Only)
Dublin -    Sunday 3rd April   (Higher Level Only)

Scholarships:

Finally just a brief note to say that their scholarship scheme is now open for applications. Last year they gave out over €200,000 in scholarships and grants and students had a 1 in 6 chance of being successful. It is recommended that students look at this page and make an application: www.griffith.ie/scholarships . The scholarship covers the full fees for the duration of the course.
